We are a small friendly team based in Derbyshire. With over 100 years of musical experience between us we really know our game! UK Brass Hire is our sister company to UK Sax Hire.
“I started UKBrassHire after the success of UKSaxHire which I started in 1997. I was often asked by my saxophone and clarinet customers to supply brass instruments on the same basis as my woodwind rental scheme. I therefore recruited Helen in 2016, an experienced brass band player to head up the brass rental side to include trumpets, cornets, trombones, tenor horns, Euphoniums and Tubas. After challenging Helen to learn the saxophone, she challenged me to learn a brass instrument so I started playing the Euphonium in July which has been an exciting new venture after playing the clarinet and sax for over 40 years!
"My family are all musicians. My father taught me to play cornet at the age of 6 and I’ve loved playing ever since. I was given a flugel horn on my 13th birthday and I still play the flugel regularly with The Marple Band. Music is my passion. I have played with numerous bands over the years from local 4th section bands to a number of years with a championship section colliery band in Nottinghamshire. Ours is a rather noisy household as I’m sure you can imagine but there’s never a dull moment – or a free weekend! "
"I started playing cornet in primary school purely because my best friend was having lessons! After a few years I joined the Army Cadet Force as a musician, this was when I really developed a passion for music. I quickly graduated to euphonium and finally Eb Tuba which I still play today. After finishing as a cadet I stayed on as a music instructor and am now the Director of Music for the Band. What little spare time I have left is spent with The Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue Concert Band as their Assistant Musical Director, and helping out the occasional brass band at contests or concerts. I wouldn't know what to do with a free weekend if I ever had one, and that's the way I like it!"
"Starting with descant recorder at an early age, I moved swiftly from violin to clarinet at nine (and never looked back!). Thirty years on, I am currently playing tenor sax with the Buxton based Southern rock band Radio Memphis and the Mississippi Horns, and also Omega Jazz band, where improvisation is compulsory! I also enjoy playing Klezmer clarinet now and then. Occasionally I dabble with flute, trumpet, guitars or accordion to add flavour to my recordings."
